Project Instructions

Open the journal cover and put it face down on the rubber cutting mat. Place your letter template on the journal cover and trace with a pencil. Cut out letter with X-ACTO® knife. Paint a thin outline of your initial with acrylic paint.

Cut a square piece of newspaper print large enough to cover your initial. Glue on the inside of the journal cover.

Take colored ribbon and cut along edges with scissors. Using your fingers, gently fray the cut edges of the ribbon. Gather a few strands and tie together. Take a jump ring and string ribbon through. Using your pliers, close the jump ring. Attach to your favorite Susan Lenart Kazmer(TM) pendant to create a finished tassel.

Using your hole punch, punch a hole in the top left hand corner of the journal cover. Take a strand of ribbon and attach your tassel and tie it through the hole in your journal.

Using your scissors, cut the edges of the journal to give it an old, worn look. Take your brown acrylic paint and brush and paint a thin outline around the edges of the journal.

Using your favorite assortment of found object jewelry components such as Gear Spacers, glue onto the front of the journal cover.

Attach the hinge to the back of the journal by punching a hole in the back cover and tying the hinge with ribbon. Cut a half a jump ring and glue to the front of the cover. When glue is dry, attach the eyeball pendant to the half jump ring with pliers.
