Project Instructions

Step: 1

Dye Instructions:

Step: 2

Cut the tablecloth into a tree skirt by trimming an 8” section from around the outer edge, then cutting a 9” circle from the center. Cut a slit so you will be able to open the skirt to wrap around the tree.

Step: 3

Prewash skirt and stocking pieces to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener.

Step: 4

Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth.

Step: 5

Follow instructions in Tulip® Custom Dye Color Kit™ Recipe Guide to mix dye in large bucket to create Hunter Green.

Step: 6

Dye all fabric pieces according to Recipe Guide.

Step: 7

Turn skirt fabric to wrong side and add a thin bead of Aleene’s® OK To Wash-It™ glue around cut edges. Fold over edges into glue to create a clean line. Let dry and iron smooth. If desired, stitch edge with sewing machine instead.

Step: 8

Enlarge and duplicate jingle bell pattern pieces as desired. Flip over pattern to the wrong side and trace with chalk. Flip back over and place along the outer edge of skirt or where desired. Refer to photo. Run hands over paper to transfer design in chalk onto tree skirt. Repeat step to create desired number of jingle bells.

Step: 9

Squeeze a puddle of Fashion Glitter Bond onto a clean piece of foil. One at a time, brush a generous layer of Glitter Bond onto jingle bells, then immediately sprinkle with Gold Fashion Glitter. Place a piece of scratch paper on top of glitter and press lightly with palm to get maximum amount of glitter to adhere. Repeat for all jingle bells. Let dry overnight then brush with stiff paintbrush to remove excess glitter.

Step: 10

Squeeze a puddle of Berry Red Soft Fabric Paint onto foil or paper plate. Use a large, flat paintbrush to freehand paint ribbon with Berry Red, weaving and looping through jingle bells. Refer to photo. Let dry.

Step: 11

Outline ribbon with Ruby Red Glitter 3D Fashion Paint. Let dry.

Step: 12

Use Gold Glitter 3D Fashion Paint to add loop to top of bell. Let dry.

Step: 13

Outline and add detail to bells with Black Slick 3D Fashion Paint.

Step: 14

Use Fashion Art Tweezers to place 5 mm Clear, Aurora Borealis and Yellow crystals randomly around tree skirt. Adhere crystals to tree skirt with the Cordless Heat-Setting Tool, following package instructions.

Glitter the bells first and let dry so that the glitter will not stick to the 3D Fashion Paint outlining the ribbon.
