Note: Beret will stretch to fit a wide range of sizes.

ch = chain

rep = repeat

sl st = slip stitch

BERET

With larger hook, ch 4, join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in ring.

Place marker for beg of rnd and move marker up as each rnd is completed.

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around – 12 sts at the end of this rnd.

Rnd 3: *Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 18 sts.

Rnd 4: *Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 24 sts.

Rnd 5: *Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 30 sts.

Rnd 6: *Sc in each of next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 36 sts.

Rnd 7: *Sc in each of next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 42 sts.

Rnd 8: *Sc in each of next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 48 sts.

Rnd 9: *Sc in each of next 7 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 54 sts.

Rnd 10: *Sc in each of next 8 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 60 sts.

Rnd 11: *Sc in each of next 9 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 66 sts.

Rnd 12: *Sc in each of next 10 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 72 sts.

Rnd 13: *Sc in each of next 11 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 78 sts.

Rnd 14: *Sc in each of next 12 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 84 sts.

Rnd 15: *Sc in each of next 13 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 90 sts.

Rnd 16: *Sc in each of next 14 sts, 2 sc in next st; rep from * around – 96 sts.

Rnd 17: Sc in each sc around. Mark this rnd.

Rep Rnd 17 for 2" (5cm) more above marker.

Fasten off.

BAND

With smaller hook, ch 5.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across – 4 sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn; working in back loops only, sc in each st across.

Rep Row 2 until piece measures 20" (51cm) from beg. Fasten off.

FINISHING

Sew short ends of Band together. Sew one long side of Band around edge of Beret, stretching Band slightly to fit. Weave in ends.
