- Cylinder Vase, 6"x10" (or Any Glass Container)
- Plaid® Mod Podge®
- DecoArt® Americana® Acrylic Sealer/Finisher
- Basic Clean Paintbrush
- Pressed Leaves, Dried
- Magazines (or Other Work Surface Covering)
Smear Mod Podge® all over the sides of the glass container using the paintbrush. Do not apply Mod Podge® to the bottom of the glass container.
Place your dry leaf onto the container where you just applied the Mod Podge® and press into place. Brush over the leaf with more Mod Podge® using your paintbrush.
Continue adding leaves and Mod Podge® until your container is covered with leaves. I like to overlap a few, but keep in mind that the overlapped areas reduce the light that can pass through. I find that the lighter colored leaves work best. Use the darker leaves as accents.
Once you have finished placing your leaves around the container surface, use the flat end of your brush to create a stippled pattern in the Mod Podge® areas NOT covered by leaves. This step will create a more pleasing pattern than will brush strokes when light shines through these "open" areas on the container.
Let the container dry thoroughly and then apply a second coat of Mod Podge® again, "stippling" the open areas.
Let the container dry several hours or overnight. Over-spray the container with the acrylic spray. When dry, pop a candle (the flameles LED scented candle works best!) or a tea light on the inside of the container and you are finished!
Use ONLY dried, pressed leaves that have NOT been coated with Mod Podge® when you make this Leaf Harvest Votive.
