Project Instructions

Step: 1

Read all tips in the Project Tip section below before beginning project.

Step: 2

Roll approximately ¼ of the package for each color into a sheet about 1/8-inch thick.

Step: 3

Lay a leaf onto the surface of the clay sheets and use the acrylic roller to roll the leaf into the top of the sheets of clay. Remove the leaf from the surface of the clay; leaving a nice impression of the outline of the leaf and the veins.

Step: 4

Use the craft knife to cut around the outline of the leaf, making sure to cut a little wider around the stem (cutting too close to the stem will leave a narrow strip that will be harder to handle).

Step: 5

Rub some of the Bronze Pearl-Ex powder onto the surface of the cut out leaf. Be sure to rub gently so the powder lies only on the surface and not in the veins.

Step: 6

Repeat steps 2 through 5 using the additional clay. Make enough leaves to arrange and wrap completely around the votive holder creating an equal number of each color. Do not attach the leaves to the glass yet.

Step: 7

Roll the additional brown clay into a sheet about 1/8-inch thick. Cut a strip that is about ½-inch wide by 6-inches long. Arrange the strip around the rim of the votive until the ends meet, trim and smooth the seam. Using the ball point pen, first create a circle pattern with the pen cartridge retracted or removed so that you can make a small circle impression. Press in an even pattern around the rim. Add dots with the pen end. Use the side of the pen point for a triangular impression. Rub the textured strip with a small amount of Pearl-Ex powder to highlight the pattern.

Step: 8

Arrange and wrap the leaves around the votive holder and gently press them to the glass surface.

Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer’s instructions for all products used.
