Project Instructions

SIMPLE GARTER HAT
SIZE
Finished Circumference about 20 in. (51 cm)
Hat will stretch to fit a range of sizes
Finished length about 8 (10, 12) in. (20.5 (25.5, 30.5) cm)
Pattern is written for shortest hat with changes for longer hats in parentheses. When only one number is given, it applies to all sizes. To follow pattern more easily, circle all numbers pertaining to your length before beginning.
 

GAUGE
16 stitches + 22 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.
 

HAT INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 80 stitches. Work in Garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures about 8 (10, 12) in. (20.5 (25.5, 30.5) cm). Bind off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through last row and pull to gather. Knot securely.
 

FINISHING
Sew seam. Weave in ends.
 

 

TWO HOUR TWEED SCARF
SIZE
About 8 x 60 in. (20.5 x 152.5 cm)
 

GAUGE
5 stitches = 4 in. (10 cm) in Garter stitch (knit every row) with 1 strand each of A, B, and C held together .BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE
 

NOTE
Scarf is worked with 1 strand each of A, B, and C held together throughout.
 

SCARF INSTRUCTIONS
With 1 strand each of A, B, and C held together, cast on 14 stitches. Work in Garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures about 60 in. (152.5 cm) from beginning. Bind off.
 

FINISHING
Weave in ends.

Edging
From right side, join A with sl st in any st along edge; ch 3, work dc evenly spaced around outside edge of Afghan, working 5 dc in each corner; join with sl st in top of beg ch. Weave in ends.
