Project Instructions

Step 1 Refer to project photo in order to take photo of child, horizontally holding sheet of copy paper in front of body, below shoulder level. (Tip: Have child hold paper at several heights, and take photo of each position. Then print one out on plain copy paper and roughly cut according to Step 3 to be sure that one of the photos you took will work. There needs to be enough space between the parts so that the photo doesn’t tear easily in narrow areas.) When satisfied with photo, have it printed as an 8"x10" print.

Step 2 For stability, use Elmer's® Washable School Glue Stick to attach 8"x10" photo to cardstock. Let dry.

Step 3 Use scissors to cut in general, all around outside of child but not exactly along edge of body yet. Cut around one elbow and hand, across shoulder, around head, across other shoulder, around hand, around elbow on other side. Then cut along copy paper, inside paper area for now. Discard scraps. (Note: This will eliminate child’s upper arms, but later artwork will be in that area.) Now that extra paper is out of way, carefully cut all along body, right on edge. Also cut right on copy paper edge.

Step 4 Cut two 4" and two 2" lengths magnetic strip. Vertically attach 4" lengths side by side to back of head/neck. Attach 2" lengths to back of each arm/hand.

Step 5 For award ribbon, place drinking glass on yellow dot paper. Trace two circles and cut out. Measure and cut 1"x8" and two 1"x4" strips of blue paper. Make 3/8" fan folds in 8" strip only. Use Elmer’s® Washable School Glue to glue short ends together. Let dry.

Step 7 Have child use marker to write "Look What I Did" on one yellow circle and set aside. On back of second circle, apply ring of School Glue ¼" away from edge. Place ends of 4" ribbon tails right side up on circle, at angles. (See photo.) Press fan folded paper (right side up) onto glue. Hold in place for a couple of minutes for glue to set. Place ring of School Glue on back of yellow circle with writing, turn over and place on top of fan folded paper. Hold until set. Let dry. Attach two 2" pieces of magnet to back of award ribbon. Diagonally trim tails as shown.
