Project Instructions

Step: 1

Prepare triple thick corrugated board or plywood base. Cover in Fanci Foil Wrap.


Step: 2

Ice and prepare 2-layer 6-inch,10-inch and 14-inch sqaure tiers for pillar and stacked construction. The 18-inch bottom tier is made by baking three 12 x 18-inch sheet cakes. Cut 1 layer in half lengthwise. Position cut pieces alongside sheet cake to create 2-layer 18-inch square. Ice and prepare as above.


Step: 3

Make color flow pieces using color flow and patterns. For the following pieces, outline using tip 2 with full-strength color flow and flow in with thinned color flow: dove pair, 4 bell sets, 44 large roses, 20 bows. Make extras of all pieces to allow for breakage and let dry.


Step: 4

When dry, using royal icing and tip 1, overpipe designs on doves and bells, pipe bead border on bows. Let all dry. Attach doves to lollipop sticks with royal icing. When dry, turn all remaining pieces over; using a cut parchment bag with royal icing and pull-out dot technique, pipe a “spike” on the back of each piece. Let spike dry.


Step: 5

Pipe tip 16 shell top and tip 20 shell bottom borders on all tiers. Outline plate edges with tip 16.


Step: 6

Decorate tiers, repeating design on each side. 6-inch Tier: Position 3 large roses and 2 small roses in a garland arrangement, overlapping pieces. 10-inch Tier: Divide cake sides in half. Position 3 large roses and 2 small roses in a garland arrangement at each side of division. Position bow at division mark.


Step: 7

14 inch Tier: Divide cake sides in half. Repeat decorating as for 10-inch tier. Position bow at corners and centers. 18-inch Tier: Postion bells at center. Add bow. Postion 1 large and 2 small roses at bottom border surrounding bells. Position 1 large and 3 small roses at top edge of corners. All Tiers: Using tip 1: pipe vines and dots.


Step: 8

Gather tulle into 4 puffs and secure with floral wire. Arrange tulle puffs and pearl sprays into cake top. Insert doves into top 6-inch tier.


Step: 9

At reception, assemble tiers. Position 3 tier toppers and insert pearl sprays into Styrofoam block between lower tiers. Position remaining tier top between upper tiers.
