Lucky Elephant Necklace
“The inspiration for my jewelry piece is yoga and music. I recently got back from a yoga festival and saw tons of mala bead necklaces. I decided to create by own spin on the necklace. The theme of the necklace is Lucky Elephant. I used red beads because red is the color of the Root Chakra, Muladhara, which provides a sense of security that help to keep focused and grounded. The elephant symbolizes wisdom, patience, strength, power and loyalty. They are considered to be a symbol of good luck with it’s trunk in the upright position. Wearing this necklace helps me to feel strong and secure yet reminds me to approach life with playful optimism."
- 92 black beads
- 16 red beads
- *need 108 beads to be a traditional mala bead necklace
- 2 silver special beads
- 20 spacer beads
- Elephant charm – trunk up
- Silver Jump Ring
- Stringing Wire
First lay out the beads on a tray. From the center have 8 red beads on each side, with a spacer in between each. A special silver bead separates the red from the black. There are 46 black beads on each side.
For the center, separate with smaller black beads so the necklace drops down. Loop through a jump ring.
Once the beads are laid out use stringing wire to start stringing.
For the plain silver circle use the hammer and bang the letters to spell “LUCK” on the disc.
Open the jump ring and insert the silver disc and the elephant charm. Close the ring.
Finish off the necklace with a clasp.
