Project Instructions

Pillow front consists of 36 rows of hdc stitches. 46 stitches across counting the chain 2 turn. Top, middle, and bottom stripe are the color “Orchard Mist” and consist of 8 rows of hdc stitches. Middle two rows are 6 rows each of hdc stitches in the color Purple.

 

Row 1: With Orchard Mist, Chain 47. Hdc in third chain from hook. Hdc in following 45 stitches across. Chain 2 and turn.

 

Rows 2 - 8: Hdc in following 45 stitches. Chain 2 and turn. Continue in this manner until you have 8 rows.

 

Row 9-14: Join Craft Smart Purple here. Chain 2 and hdc in next 45stitches. Chain 2 and turn. Continue working hdc rows as before until you have 6 rows of purple.

Follow sequence of rows to obtain correct number of rows for each stripe.

 

Pillow back is consists of 36 rows of hcd stitched. 46 stitches across counting the chain 2 turn. Work entire back side of pillow in the color Orchard Mist.

After working front and back of pillow, sew together with yarn and tapestry needle on 3 sides, then slip pillow in. Sew top of pillow together.

 

Eyes:

Large eye, Craft Smart White Yarn

 

Chain 2

Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around -12 st

Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st

Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st

Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around – 30 st

Round 6: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around – 36 st

Round 7-9: Sc in each sc around in each row. Fasten off.

 

Black Pupil (large eye):

With black yarn ch 2

Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around --12 st

Attach to white eye piece before attaching eye to pillow.

 

Small eye, Craft Smart™ White Yarn

 

Chain 2

Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around -- 12 st

Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around -- 18 st

Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around -- 24 st

Round 5-6: Sc in each sc around -- 24 st

 

Black Pupil (small eye):

With Black Craft Smart™ Yarn ch 2

Round 1: Work 7 sc in first chain

Attach to white eye piece before attaching eye to pillow.

 

Mouth:

With Red Craft Smart Yarn Ch 18.

Keeping chain flat, join to beginning chain to form ring. Sc in each stitch around continuously to create a tube.

When tube is 20" in length, stuff very lightly with fiberfill and sew ends together with ends facing each other to form a tube.

Attach to pillow as shown.

 

Teeth: Make 2

With White Craft Smart Yarn Ch 14.

Keeping chain flat, join to beginning chain to form ring. Sc in each stitch around continuously to create a tube.

Make 6 rows.

Fasten off and using end of thread, weave through edge of tooth and gather at one end.

Once gathered, stuff very lightly with fiberfill and sew closed.

Attach to pillow inside mouth area as shown in photo.

 

Horns: Make 2

With Purple Craft Smart Yarn Ch 17.

Rows 1-15: Keeping chain flat, join to beginning chain to form ring. Sc in each stitch around continuously to create a tube.

Row 16 and beyond: Now you will begin to decrease to create a pointed end by pulling up loop in next two stitches, then pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook. *Sc in next 4 stitches, decrease in next 2 stitches as before**, Continuing between *, and ** in this manner the horn will begin to become smaller on this end and eventually come to a point. When this happens, bind off and hide ends. Stuff lightly with fiberfill and sew wide end together. Sew to pillow as shown in photo.

 

Hair:

Hair consists of 3 large pom poms in red Craft Smart™ yarn.

Easy way to create pom poms:

Cut a piece of cardboard 6.5 x 4.5 inches.

Wrap yarn onto cardboard’s longest edge 120 times.

Pull yarn off cardboard.

Holding yarn together tightly in hand at center point, wrap a long piece of

yarn around center several times and tie tightly.

You may use this long tied piece of yarn to attach pom pom to pillow.
Attach to pillow as shown.

Trim as necessary.
