Project Instructions

Fold an 8" piece of chenille stem in half and glue the folded end into the ball body about ½" (this forms the legs). Cut a 7" piece of chenille stem for the neck and head, and glue it into the front of the body in line with the legs, as shown.

Glue one end of the yarn to the ball to secure and begin wrapping the ball tightly with the yarn to completely cover. Do not cut the yarn at this point. Continue wrapping tightly down one leg, keeping each wrap close to the next but not overlapping, to completely cover the stem. When you reach the end of the chenille stem, begin to wrap back up the leg the same way creating a second layer of yarn. Wrap about ¾" back up the leg.

Now bend that ¾" section in half, creating a little loop at the end of the leg for the foot. Continue wrapping, securing the foot in place.

Wrap up the leg about halfway and overlap the yarn in a small section to create the knee. Wrap to the top of the leg and continue down the other leg in the same way. Do not cut the yarn.

Wrap the yarn up the neck to the tip the same way you wrapped the legs. When you reach the end begin wrapping back about 1". Fold this 1" end in half creating the beak. Continue wrapping, securing the beak in place. Next, wrap several layers of yarn to create the head. Continue wrapping back down the neck until it is as thick as you would like. Cut the yarn and secure the end with glue on the body of the flamingo.

Using the wire cutters, cut a piece of wire and thread it under several layers of yarn at the top of the body. Twist the ends together to create the hanger.

Cut about a 3" piece of feather boa. Fold it in half and glue it to the back of the flamingo.

Glue two small black beads for the eyes or use tiny black dots of fabric paint applied with the tip of a toothpick.
