Project Instructions

Step 1 Cut a 1¾" piece of 18 ga. wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 3/8" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 3/8" length of wire. Slide the wire through two holes of a round slider. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the slider. Trim the wire to 3/8". Use round nose pliers to form the 3/8" of wire into a round loop. Repeat one more time, completing a total of two links.

Step 2 Slide a head pin through one of the seed beads from the strand, and through holes of a round slider. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the slider. Trim the wire to 3/8". Use round nose pliers to form the 3/8" of wire into a round loop. Repeat one more times, completing a total of two links.

Step 3 Cut a 1¼" piece of 18 ga. wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 3/8" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 3/8" length of wire. Slide a 15mm faceted beaded bead onto the wire. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the bead. Trim the wire to 3/8". Use round nose pliers to form the 3/8" of wire into a round loop. Repeat three more times, completing a total of four links.

Step 4 Cut a 1¼" piece of 18 ga. wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 3/8" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 3/8" length of wire. Slide a silver rondelle onto the wire. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the bead. Trim the wire to 3/8". Use round nose pliers to form the 3/8" of wire into a round loop. Repeat five more times, completing a total of six links.

Step 5 Cut a 1.5-inch piece of 18 ga. wire. Using chain nose pliers, make a 90° bend 3/8" from the end of the wire. Switch to round nose pliers, and form a round loop from the 3/8" length of wire. Slide a round metal lentil bead onto the wire. Use chain nose pliers to make a 90° bend next to the bead. Trim the wire to 3/8". Use round nose pliers to form the 3/8" of wire into a round loop. Repeat three more times, completing a total of four links.

Step 6 Cut or open and detach two 2¼" sections of chain.

Step 7 Attach an 8mm jump ring through the head pin, and slide two of the 15mm beaded bead links onto the ring. Close the jump ring.

Step 8 Open an unoccupied loop of one beaded bead link. Slide one loop of a round slider link to the loop. Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side of the necklace.

Step 9 Open one loop of one beaded bead link. Slide the loop through the unoccupied loop of one round slider link. Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side of the necklace.

Step 10 Open the unoccupied loop of one of the previous beaded bead links. Slide a faceted rondelle link onto the loop. Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side of the necklace.

Step 11 Open the unoccupied loop of one of the previous faceted rondelle links. Slide a metal lentil link onto the loop. Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side of the necklace.

Step 12 Open the unoccupied loop of one of the previous metal lentil links. Slide a faceted rondelle link onto the loop. Close the loop. Repeat on the opposite side of the necklace.

Step 13 Repeat Steps 11 and 12 one more time, so that a faceted rondelle link sits at the top of each side of the chain. Open the unoccupied loop of a rondelle link and slide a 2¼" chain section into the loop. Close the loop.

Step 14 Open all of the 6mm 18 ga, jump rings. On one side of the necklace, slide one jump ring through the top link of the chain, and slide the loop half of the clasp onto the jump ring. Close the jump ring. On the opposite side of the necklace, slide one open 6mm jump ring through the top chain link. Close the jump ring. slide a second jump ring through the previous jump ring, and the bar half of the clasp. Close the jump ring.

Tips

Chain links can either be cut, or opened, using two pairs of pliers, like a jump ring. When creating chain link sections, if the chain links are very heavy, it is a better idea to open the links like jump rings instead of cutting the links.
