Project Instructions
Step: 1
Double load ¾” flat brush with Burnt Umber and Wicker White. Slide brush on the chisel edge, leading with the white: start in the upper left to begin branch.
Step: 2
Create a graceful branch from which your blossoms will grow by painting the main branch, then come off of main branch with smaller ones curving away from the main.
Step: 3
Double load ¾” flat brush with Thicket and Fresh Foliage. Paint basic leaves coming off of the tree branch, keeping dark edge of brush to the outside of leaf edge. Add veins and stems connecting to nearest branch by sliding brush on chisel edge.
Step: 4
Double load #12 flat brush with Wicker White and Yellow Ochre. Keeping the white to the outside edge, paint 5-petal flowers randomly in area along branch, overlapping some of the leaves. Paint ½ flowers to simulate buds or side-view blossoms.
Step: 5
With end of brush, dot Engine Red and Burnt Umber dots for flower centers.
Step: 6
Double load ¾” flat brush with Burnt Umber and Fresh Foliage. Use a “cross-thatch” stroke around top edge of pot for an interesting texture.
