Project Instructions

Step 1 Measure waist and add approximately 8" to total length, providing enough length to tie waistband.

Step 2 Cut elastic to measurement in Step 1.

Step 3 Wrap elastic loosely around waist, tie elastic in a knot, and remove by sliding off.

Step 4 Determine length of your tutu, and double that measurement.

Step 5 Cut strips of tulle using measurement in Step 4.

Step 6 To add pom-poms (otherwise skip to Step 8), add Liquid Stitch™ liberally to ball, and position towards the outer ends of the tulle strip. Do not place in the center fold. (Apply each pom-pom in various spots to add variety)

Step 7 Fold tulle around pom-pom and pin to secure while drying. Lay with glue facing up. NOTE: For best control, while sitting, slide waistband up onto thigh(s) and work from your lap, turning waistband around your leg(s) as you work.

Step 8 Fold tulle strip in half and slide the folded center under elastic waistband.

Step 9 Take the opposite two cut ends, and fold over the elastic, and through the tulle loop on other side. (This should position the tutu bottom facing away from you)

Step 10 Tighten tulle loop into a "knot" around elastic and slide to your right until it reaches the elastic knot.

Step 11 Repeat Step 8 until there is enough tulle to complete tutu. Alternate pom-pom pieces to space out. NOTE: adjust the tulle "knots" frequently, keeping adequate stretch in the waistband.

Step 12 To add jewels, apply a 1/16" dot of Liquid Stitch™ directly to top layers of tulle, pick up jewel with tweezers and place jewel on adhesive. Let dry.

There are about three knots of tulle per inch of elastic.

Scissors can be used to do all cutting, but it is much faster to cut tulle with a rotary cutter and mat.

If adding pom-pom embellishments, apply to strips of tulle, allowing to dry, before they are tied to the waistband.
