Project Instructions

  1. Knead gray clay for 2 minutes and roll a 1 1/8-inch ball. Mold into a pear shape for the body. and very gently press fat end to the work surface to flatten slightly.

  2. Roll two ½-inch gray balls into circles, gently flatten and attach to the side of the body for hindquarters. Roll two 3/8-inch balls and place in front of the hindquarters for paws.

  3. Roll two 5/8-inch gray balls into tapered logs and attach to the top of the body for front paws.

  4. Roll one 11/16-inch gray ball into a rounded triangle for the head. Attach to the body.

  5. Roll two small black balls for eyes and one small black oval for the nose and attach to the face.

  6. Roll two 7/16-inch gray balls into tapered logs, flatten and attach to the head for ears.

  7. Roll many tiny gray balls and attach to the bottom of the ears, top of the head and hindquarters for poodle curls.

  8. Use the Firefly tools to add details to the paws and face as shown.

  9. ADULT: Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275º F (130º C) for 15 minutes per ¼-inch (6mm) of thickness. Do not use in microwave oven. Do not exceed the above temperatures or recommended baking time. Baking should be completed by an adult.

Tips

Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.

Good working surfaces include glass or metal, disposable foil or wax paper.

Be sure to clean hands and tools before starting your project. For best results, clean hands in between colors.

Start with lighter colors and work your way down to darker colors, to avoid discoloring the clay.

Wash hands after working with clay.
