Project Instructions

GETTING STARTED
Preheat oven to 275 Degree F. You may wish to use an oven thermometer to make sure your oven is precisely calibrated. Condition your clay by running it through a pasta machine several times or kneading it in your hands until it is soft and pliable. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 130 °C (275 °F for US customers) for 30 minutes per 6 mm (1/4”) of thickness. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT exceed the above temperatures or recommended baking time.

Remove the cap from the ornament and set aside. Using a clay dedicated pasta machine or acrylic roller create a thin sheet of Green Pearl clay. Wrap the clay sheet around the ornament. Using the Super Slicer trim the clay so that it does not overlap at the seam.

Pinch the extra clay at the top and bottom of the ornament into pinch pleats. Make sure the pleats are snugged close to the ornament.

Using the sharp blade, carefully remove the pleats of extra clay. Take your time and carefully smooth the seams with your fingers including the first seam that was created when you wrapped the ornament in step 1. After the seams are all smoothed, roll the ornament gently in your hands to make sure the clay is snug to the glass ball. You don't want bubbles of air trapped between the clay and the glass. If you do find bubbles, you can pop them with a needle or toothpick and then smooth the clay back down.

Roll a very thin sheet of Red Pearl. Using the Mini Metal Cutters cut several little poinsettia leaf/petal shapes from the red. Create lots of tiny gold balls. Following the photo of the finished sample, position the petals and gold balls onto the green ornament. Use the small Etch n Pearl tool to push the gold balls into place. Pick up gold glitter on your fingertip and press small amounts of glitter randomly on the ornament. Bake as directed.
