GAUGE
16 sts = 4"; 5 sc rounds = 1". CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given. 

SLIPPERS
Snout (Make 2)-Round 1:  With A ch 2; 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with a slip st in first sc.

Round 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around; join -- 12 sc.

Round 3:  Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] 5 times; join -- 18 sc.

Round 4:  Ch 1, 2 sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc] 5 times; join -- 24 sc.  Fasten off; this is the lower edge of the Snout.

Outer Slipper (Make 2):  With right side facing attach A in back loop of a sc at the upper edge of Snout.

Row 1 (Right Side):  Ch 1, sc in back loop of same sc as joining, sc in back loop of each sc around; do not join; turn. 

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in both loops of each sc across; turn.

Row 3:  Repeat Row 2.

Row 4:  Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 3 sc; turn -- 28 sc.

Row 5:  Ch 1, sc in first 3 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 3 sc; turn -- 32 sc.

Row 6:  Ch 1, sc in first 3 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 7 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in next sc, sc in last 4 sc; turn -- 36 sc. 

** Continue in sc increasing 4 sts evenly spaced until there are 64 sts.  Then work even in sc until 10½" from beginning, end wrong side row.

Shape Heel-Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc; * [draw up a loop in next st] twice, yo and through all 3 loops on hook -- sc2tog made; sc in next 4 sc; repeat from * across; turn -- 54 sts.

Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc, [sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc] 10 times; turn -- 44 sts.

Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 4 sts, [sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts] 10 times; turn -- 34 sts.

Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc, [sc2tog, sc in next sc] 10 times; turn -- 24 sts.

Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc, [sc2tog] 10 times; turn -- 14 sts.

Next Row:  Ch 1, [sc2tog] 7 times; turn -- 7 sts.  Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first sc, [sc2tog] 3 times -- 4 sts.  Fasten off. **  

Lining Slipper (Make 2) Toe: With A ch 5.

Row 1 (Right Side):  Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn -- 4 sc.

Row 2:  Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc across; turn -- 8 sc.  Row 3:  Ch 1, sc in first sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] 3 times, 2 sc in last sc; turn -- 12 sc.

Row 4:  Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in last sc; turn -- 16 sc.

Row 5:  Ch 1, sc in first 3 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in last sc; turn -- 20 sc.

Row 6:  Ch 1, sc in first 4 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 4 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in last sc; turn -- 24 sc.

Row 7:  Ch 1, sc in first 5 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in last sc; turn -- 28 sc.

Row 8:  Ch 1, sc in first 6 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc] 3 times, 2 sc in last sc; turn -- 32 sc.   

Work even in sc until 8½" from beginning, end wrong side row.  

Shape Heel-Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [sc2tog, sc in next 3 sc] 6 times; turn -- 26 sc.

Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc] 6 times; turn -- 20 sc.

Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, [sc2tog, sc in next sc] 6 times; turn -- 14 sc.

Next Row:  Ch 1, [sc2tog] 7 times; turn -- 7 sc.  Next Row:  Ch 1, sc in first sc, [sc2tog] 3 times -- 4 sc.  Fasten off.  

Ears (Make 4):  With A ch 7.

Row 1 (Right Side):  2 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 4 ch, 2 sc in last ch; turn -- 8 sc.

Row 2:  Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog; turn -- 6 sc.

Row 3:  Ch 1, sc2tog, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog; turn -- 4 sc.

Row 5:  Ch 1, [sc2tog] twice; turn -- 2 sts.

Row 6:  Ch 1, sc2tog -- 1 sc.  Fasten off.  

Tail (Make 2):  With A ch 10.  2 Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in each ch across.  Fasten off.  

FINISHING
Sew center front seam of outer slipper from snout to foot opening for 5".  Sew center back seam of outer slipper from heel to foot opening for 1½".  Sew center front seam of lining slipper from toe to foot opening for 2½".  Sew center back seam of lining slipper from heel to foot opening for 1½".  Join foot opening of lining to foot opening of slipper by 1 round sc along edge through both thicknesses, stuffing slipper firmly.  Sew on ears as shown.  Attach tail at back.  With B Embroider eyes, Straight Stitch eyelashes and nostrils.
