Project Instructions

  1. Knead beige clay for 2 minutes.

  2. Roll one 1 1/8-inch beige ball into an egg shape. Press one side gently onto the work surface to create the body.

  3. Roll four 5/8-inch beige balls into tapered logs for legs. Gently press the fatter end of the leg flat onto the work surface to create paws. Place two behind the body and two in front of the body.

  4. Roll one ¼-inch beige ball into a log with a pointed end for the tail and press onto the body.

  5. Roll one 11/16-inch beige ball into a rounded triangle and press onto the front of the body, for the head.

  6. Roll two 7/16-inch beige balls into tapered logs and flatten, press to top of head for ears.

  7. Knead brown clay for 2 minutes, roll into small balls, flatten and press onto the body for spots.

  8. Roll two tiny black balls for eyes and a tiny black oval for a nose and add to the face.

  9. Use the Firefly tools to make indentations in the paws and face as shown.

  10. ADULT: Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275º F (130º C) for 15 minutes per ¼-inch (6mm) of thickness. Do not use in microwave oven. Do not exceed the above temperatures or recommended baking time. Baking should be completed by an adult.

Tips

Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces.

Good working surfaces include glass or metal, disposable foil or wax paper.

Be sure to clean hands and tools before starting your project. For best results, clean hands in between colors.

Start with lighter colors and work your way down to darker colors, to avoid discoloring the clay.

Wash hands after working with clay.
