Project Instructions

Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth.

Cut off the collar, sleeves and bottom hemline of one of the shirts. Refer to photo.

Wash shirt to remove sizing; do not dry.

Lay damp shirt on prepared work surface.

Wearing plastic gloves from dye box, add water to turquoise and black dye bottles, replace caps and shake thoroughly to mix. Squeeze out ¼ of the turquoise dye into sink. Mix ¼ of the black dye into the turquoise bottle to create a deeper shade of turquoise. Tip: The more black you add, the deeper the shade of turquoise you will achieve.

Squeeze dye all over shirt, covering all white areas.

Cover shirt with plastic tablecloth to keep damp, and let set for 6 to 8 hours or longer for most intense colors.

Rinse shirt in warm running water until runoff is clear, then wash separately in hottest water suitable for fabric with a small amount of laundry soap. Dry separately.

Cut two strips of fabric from the remaining white T-shirt, 3" wide by the length of the shirt.

Use Fabric Fusion® to glue strips together end to end, creating one long strip. Starting at one end of strip, add a line of Fabric Fusion®, then fold pleat a section of the strip into the glue. Continue pleating fabric and gluing in place to create one large ruffled piece. Refer to photo. Let dry.

Once dry, lay ruffled piece on covered work surface and spray Olive Fabric Spray Paint over entire piece. Let dry. Tip: Practice spraying Fabric Spray Paint on a paper towel to get a feel for spray nozzle until you achieve a nice, even mist.

Thread faux pearls onto wire to create a pearl embellishment. Attach a pin backing to both ends and then add rhinestone chain and ribbon, tying bows at each end of ribbon. Refer to photo.

Stitch black tulle in place diagonally across shirt as shown.

Use Fabric Fusion® to glue ruffled piece on top of tulle.

Use Liquid Fusion® to glue metal brooch onto bottom of ruffled sash. Let dry.

One-Step Dye can be mixed to create cool new shades!
