- 1 (1-1-1) ball of #01711 (Silly Sprite) as Contrast B
- 1 (1-1-1) ball of #01731 (Cool Baby) as Contrast C
- 1 (1-1-1) ball of #01512 (Perfect Peach) as Con-trast D
- 1 (1-1-1) ball of #01005 (White) as Contrast E
- Sizes U.S. 5 (3.75 mm) and U.S. 6 (4 mm) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge

Size
6 (12-18-24) mos
To fit chest: 17 (18-19-21)” [43 (45.5-48-53.5) cm]
Finished chest: 19 (20-22-24)” [48 (51-56-61) cm]
Gauge
22 sts and 30 rows = 4” (10 cm) with larger needles in stocking st.
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
Stripe Pat
Working in stocking st, work 4 rows of each color: A, B, C, D and E. These 20 rows form Stripe Pat.
Front and Back (make alike).
With E and smaller needles, cast on 75 (79-85-91) sts.
Knit 5 rows garter st (knit every row), noting 1st row is WS and inc 3 sts evenly across last row. 78 (82-88-94) sts.
Change to larger needles and proceed in Stripe Pat, dec 1 st each end of needle on 7th row and every following 8th row to 72 (74-76-72) sts, then every following 6th row to 54 (60-64-70) sts. Cont even in Stripe Pat until work from beg measures 11 (12-13½-15)” [54 (60-64-70) cm], ending with a purl row.
Shape Armholes
Cast off 3 (4-5-6) sts beg next 2 rows. 48 (52-54-58) sts.
Dec 1 st each end of needle on next and every following alt row 4 times more. 38 (42-44-48) sts.
Cont even in pat until armhole measures 2 (2½-3-3½)” [5 (6-7.5-9) cm], ending with a purl row.
Shape neck
1st row: (RS). K10 (11-11-12). Turn. Leave rem sts on a spare needle.
Dec 1 st at neck edge on next 5 rows. Cont even on rem
5 (6-6-7) sts until armhole measures 4½ (5-5½-6)”
[11 (12.5-14-15) cm], ending with a purl row. Cast off.
With RS facing, slip next 18 (20-22-24) sts onto a st holder. Join appropriate color and work as given for left side, reversing shaping.
FINISHING
Neckband: Sew right shoulder seam. With E and smaller needles, pick up and knit 110 (114-118-122) sts around neck edge (including sts on holders). Knit 2 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS).
Armbands: Sew left shoulder and neckband seam. With E and smaller needles, pick up and knit 60 (64-66-70) sts around armhole edge. Knit 2 rows. Cast off knitwise (WS). Sew side seams.
