Cut a section from an empty tube that is 2½" long. Set aside.
Punch out two 3" circles. Make little snips ½" deep into the edges of the first circle. Fold these sections down at a 90 degree angle from the main part of the circle. Repeat with the second circle. This will be the top and bottom of the drum.
Cut a 3"x12" strip of paper from the drum print to use in the middle. Trim the top and the bottom (along the 12" sides) with pinking-edged scissors. Wrap this strip into a 2½" tube and adhere the end to the main part of the tube. Punch two small holes at the top, one on each side, for your floss, and set an eyelet in each hole. Cut two pieces of monofilament string, 8" each, and tie a piece through each hole, leaving just under 7" available at the top. Once both pieces are in place, tie the long ends together at the top. Adhere the circles to the ends of the tube, one on each side, with the print facing out and the folded side down, flush against the side of the tube.
Tie a ribbon bow around the top of your string, 1" under your knot. Find the page with all of the icons and cut out two of the square pieces. Adhere them back to back just below the bow.
Finish off the ornament by cutting two pieces from a dowel rod and shaping one end of each into a point with a knife. Adhere these directly to the top of the drum.
