Project Instructions

Cut the 96" chocolate metal chain into (24) 3½" sections.

Cut the 78" chocolate metal chain into (20) 3½" sections.

Cut the blue rhinestone chain into (19) 3½" sections. Attach a rhinestone end connector to the ends of the 32 rhinestone chain sections. Use pliers to fold the prongs down securely.

Make five separate vertical linked 8mm crystal bead sections. Thread one eye pin through one sapphire bead. Using pliers, bend the pin to a right angle. Cut the pin approximately ¼" beyond the bead. Use the round nose pliers to grasp the end of the pin, curve the pin by using a rolling motion to fold it over a single round prong. You may need to release the pin and continue the rolling motion again. Thread another eye pin through another sapphire crystal bead and repeat the same process to make a duplicate eye on the other side of the crystal bead. Using your round pliers, slightly open one of the eye holes and loop the eye from the other bead into it. Gently and securely close the loop. The two crystal beads will be linked together. Repeat this process until you have five sapphire crystal beads linked in a chain. Make five individual crystal length sections with five crystals in each section.

Line up the five sections of crystal lengths perpendicular to one another on a flat surface with a couple of inches in between each section.

Using pliers, open a 4mm jump ring and attach it to the top eye of the 1st crystal in the 1st crystal linked section. Before closing the jump ring, thread one link from each type of 3½" chain sections that were previously cut. Add one length of blue rhinestone chain.  The ends of these chain lengths should be attached to another jump ring at the top of the 2nd crystal linked section. Before closing the jump ring, add two more sections of chain and 1 length of rhinestone chain. Close the jump ring securely. Continue this process across the top row of crystal sections.

To begin the second and subsequent rows of chain, the jump ring will be placed at the connection point between two crystals. Repeat the layering of chain onto jump rings across five columns and four more rows.

Once all crystal and chain lengths are joined in the above formation, it will need to be attached to the neck chain.

Cut a14" piece of Bead Landing™ medium size link chocolate metal chain.

Open an 8mm jump ring with a pliers and place one chocolate metal lobster claw on the jump ring. Link the jump ring through the last link on one end of the 14" chain length. Close the jump ring.

Find the center point of the 14" chain length. Attach the center row of crystals and chain to this point using the jump ring which is at the top of this row.

Measure 2" over on either side of the center point and attach the next crystal and chain sections at these points with the jump rings that begin each column of crystals and chain.

Measure 2" more out from each of the above points and attach the last sections of crystal and chain columns with the leading jump rings.

The placement of the columns at 2" interval on the chain will allow for the chain sections to elegantly drape.

Add three crystals with a head pin to the center bottom jump ring. Thread the crystal onto the head pin. Using pliers, bend the pin to a right angle. Cut the pin approximately ¼" beyond the bead. Use the round nose pliers to grasp the end of the pin and curve the pin by using a rolling motion to fold it over a single round prong. You may need to release the pin and continue the rolling motion again.  With the round nose pliers, curve and bend a loop into the pin. Open the jump ring and place the following items onto the jump ring in the following order:

  • One Crystal on a head pin
  • One  3 ½ inch length of chocolate chain.
  • One  3 ½ inch length of chocolate chain.
  • One Crystal on a head pin
  • One  3 ½ inch length of chocolate chain.
  • One  3 ½ inch length of chocolate chain.
  • One Crystal on a head pin

Securely close the jump ring.
