Material List

  • Tulip® Soft® Fabric Paint – Ebony, Glacier White and Sunshine Yellow
  • Tulip® Fabric Markers, 6-Pack, Fine – Primary
  • T-Shirt, 100% Cotton – Lime Green
  • Shirt Board
  • Freezer Paper
  • Pencil
  • Craft Knife
  • Toothpicks
  • Craft Sponge
  • Iron
  • Paintbrush – #6 Round
  • Foam Plate (or Foil) Palette
  • Paper Towel

Project Instructions

Step 1  Use pencil to trace cat pattern on freezer paper.

Step 2  Cut out cat with craft knife to create stencil. Cut out eyes and set aside.

Step 3  Iron stencil in place on T-shirt. Place cut out eyes and iron in place.

Step 4  Insert shirt board into layers of T-shirt.

Step 5  Pour puddle of Ebony on palette and sponge into stencil openings. Sponge Glacier White into moon. Let dry.

Step 6  Remove eye stencils and paint in with Glacier White. Let dry.

Step 7  Paint Sunshine Yellow in moon and eyes, over Glacier White. Let dry.

Step 8  Use back end of paintbrush dipped in Ebony to dab iris in eye. Let dry.

Step 9  Dip brush in Ebony, brush excess paint on paper towel and dry brush lightly across the moon. Let dry.

Step 10  Use black marker to draw fur standing up on cat’s body and tail. Let dry.


When painting on a colored T-shirt, use white fabric paint as a base for lighter colors to help achieve truer finished colors.
