Material List

  • Vitrea 160 Glass Paints- #20 Veil White And #67 Dimensional Tube Outliner - Pearl White
  • Tall Glass Vase - Unusual Shape
  • Round Brush #8 (Blend of Natural and Synthetic is Best)
  • Paper (or Other) Palette
  • Paper Towels and Cotton Swabs
  • Rubbing Alcohol or Glass Cleaner

Project Instructions

Step: 1

Clean the glass surface with rubbing alcohol or window cleaner to remove any grease or fingerprints.

Step: 2

Load the brush with a generous amount of #20 Veil White. Begin by painting scroll patterns around the top of the vase and work your way down. Simply paint very loose “s”, “c” and swirl shapes around the vase (see photo).

Step: 3

Allow the paint to dry to the touch for about 20 minutes.

Step: 4

With the Dimensional Outliner, draw scroll patterns scattered loosely around the vase (see Helpful Hint # 8).

Step: 5

It is not necessary to bake the vase for permanence, if it is going to be hand washed only, not placed in a dishwasher. For baking: allow it to dry for 24 hours, place it in a cool oven on the middle oven rack, set the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the temperature has been reached, set the timer for 40 minutes. After baking is complete, turn off the oven and open the oven door to allow the piece to cool down gradually. Once cool, remove the piece from the oven. Baking allows the piece to be placed in a dishwasher.

Step: 6

After drying, place the piece in a cool oven on the middle oven rack, set the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the temperature has been reached, set the timer for 40 minutes. After baking is complete, turn off the oven and open the oven door to allow the piece to cool down gradually. Once cool, remove the piece from the oven. Now the paint is permanent, microwave safe and dishwasher resistant!

Tips

Remember that if you make a mistake or change your mind, the paint may be removed at anytime until it has been baked. Glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol work best.
