Project Instructions

GETTING STARTED

Do not use unbaked clay on unprotected furniture or finished surfaces. Start with clean hands and work surface area. Good work surfaces include wax paper, metal baking sheet, or disposable foil. Knead clay until soft and smooth. For best results, clean your hands in between colors. Shape clay, pressing pieces together firmly. Bake on oven-proof glass or metal surface at 275°F (130°C) for 15 minutes per ¼" (6mm) thickness. For best baking results, use an oven thermometer. DO NOT USE MICROWAVE OVEN. DO NOT EXCEED THE ABOVE TEMPERATURE OR RECOMMENDED BAKING TIME. Wash hands after use. Baking should be completed by an adult.

Begin by preheating oven to 275°F (130°C). Test temperature with oven thermometer for perfectly cured clay. For best results, condition all clay by running it through the clay dedicated pasta machine several passes on the widest setting. Fold the clay in half after each pass and insert the fold side into the rollers first.

Red Ornament

Step 1 Print out the templates on a sheet of cardstock paper and carefully cut out the templates. Cut out at least two of each template.

Step 2 Roll ½ bar of Deep Red Pearl through the clay dedicated pasta machine on the widest setting until the clay is smooth and pliable. Place the sheet of clay on your work surface and place your round pointed template on top. Use the craft blade to carefully cut out around the template.

Step 3 Roll a small amount of Gold clay on the widest setting of the pasta machine and cut out three disks using the Round Mini Cutter. Set these aside. Roll the remaining Gold clay left over from the cutter into two thin snakes. Lay the snakes onto the ornament, curving them to imitate the curve of a real ornament. Make sure to leave room in between the snakes to place the three disks. Trim the edges of the snakes to the edge of the ornament.

Step 4 Before placing the disks onto the ornament, add gold glitter to the top of all three. Place them carefully onto the ornament, in between the snakes.

Step 5 Add a small amount of glitter to the top and bottom tip of the ornament

NOTE: to prevent getting unwanted glitter onto your ornament, the three circles can be baked separately from the ornament and glued into place after the ornament is baked.

Step 6 Set the completed ornament on the baking sheet.

Step 7 Bake ornament according to the time and temperature on the clay package directions.

Green Ornament

Step 1 Roll out ½ package of Moss clay on the widest setting on the pasta machine.

Step 2 Lightly mist the stamp with water and press firmly into the sheet of clay. Remove the stamp.

Step 3 Cut out the round ornament template. Place it on the sheet of textured clay, making sure the top where the “hanger” would be is NOT on textured portion of the clay. Carefully cut out the round ornament with the craft blade.

Step 4 Add lines to mimic a metal hanger using the rubber chisel before adding gold glitter on top of it.

Step 5 Rub green glitter over the stamped portion of the clay.

Step 6 Place the completed ornament on the baking sheet with the red ornament.

Step 7 Bake ornament according to the time and temperature on the clay package directions.

Gold Ornament

Step 1 Cut out the teardrop ornament templates. To get the cut out for the reflection on the ornament, use a pencil to draw where you want the reflection to be. Use a craft knife to cut that portion out of your template.

Step 2 Roll ½ package of Gold clay out on the widest setting of the pasta machine. Place the template with the reflection cut out onto the clay. Cut out the ornament with the craft knife. Don’t remove the template from the clay.

Step 3 Sprinkle silver glitter over the cut out area of the template. Gently rub to adhere and remove the template. Add some silver glitter to the top “hanger” area.

Step 4 Place the completed ornament on the baking sheet with the others.

Step 5 Bake ornament according to the time and temperature on the clay package directions.

Make the Card

Step 1 Cut the two-sided scrapbook paper to 5"x10". Fold this paper in half. Sandwich the front flap of the gold card with patterned paper so the front top and front inside will be patterned. Glue this paper in place.

Step 2 Now cut the green piece of scrapbooking paper smaller than the dimension of the front the card. Adhere this to the front of the card.

Step 3 Cut three 8" lengths of the gold cord and fold in half. Thread the beads onto the cords.

Step 4 Place the ornaments on the front of the card to get the spacing correct.

Step 5 Place the gold cord on the card above each ornament. Where the end of the cord falls determines where you will cut the card (at the fold) to adhere the cord to the inside of the card.

Step 6 Once the spacing is where you like it, use the craft knife to slice the top fold of the card in the three spots. Thread the cord through each slice and adhere with spare pieces of tape or glue (make sure the glue dries completely before closing the card).

Step 7 On the front of the card, glue the ornament down with the cord behind the top of each ornament so it looks as if the ornament is hanging.

Tips

Always clean your hands in between clay colors!
