Project Instructions

Cut a two 1½ yard pieces and four 22" pieces of black hemp.

Hold three 22" pieces of hemp (reserve one for the clasp later) together and make an overhand knot about 6” from one end. Attach the top (6" portion) of the bracelet to a sturdy holder (such as the clip of a clipboard) so bracelet can be easily assembled from top downward.

Cut the 3 yard piece of hemp into two 1½ yard pieces. Fold both pieces in half and hold together at folds. Attach to the three 22" strands by tying (at fold) just above the overhand knot. Pull tight.

Position strands so that two long strands are on the far left and two long strands are on the far right. These two sets of strands will be your “knotting” strands (the two on the left together make up one knotting strand while the two on the right together will make up the other knotting strand). Hang the three shorter strands down the middle. These three strands together will be the “filler” strand for the bracelet.

Make a three square knot (SQK) sinnet. Slide one Rhinestone bead onto the filler strands.

Make two SQK and add another Rhinestone bead to the filler strands. Repeat this Step 3 more times until a total of 5 Rhinestone beads have been added. Finish with another three SQK sinnet.

Collect all the knotting strands together and make a large overhand knot after the last sinnet. Before tightening, slide the three filler strands through the loop of the overhand knot. Pull knot tight. Dab with glue, especially the knotting strands, and let dry. Trim the knotting strands close to the overhand knot. Bracelet can now be removed from clipboard.

Bracelet now has three strands hanging on either end. On each strand, slide on a toho or E bead and make a knot about 4" from closest overhand knot. Slide bead down to that knot and make another knot on opposite side of bead to hold bead in place. Trim ends to a ½".

To make adjustable clasp, loop bracelet around (like you would wear on wrist) so the three strands on one side overlap with the three strands on the other side.

Take last 22" piece of hemp and fold in half. Tie piece (at fold) with a regular knot in the middle of the six overlapping strands from the bracelet, holding the six strands together.

Using the two ends of the 22" piece as the “knotting” strands and the six overlapping strands together as the “filler”, make five SQK. Dab end of SQK section with glue, making sure not to get any glue on the “filler” strands, and let dry. Trim “knotter” ends.

To “open” bracelet, carefully pull bracelet open. To “close”, carefully pull on the beaded strands.

Complete bracelet measures 7" fully closed and will fit up to a 9" wrists.

Any color hemp will work - just coordinate the color to match or compliment your beads.
