With D hook, in shell pattern, 4 shells = approx 4"

Slipper Edge
Set Up Row
With A yarn and B hook, begin at the back seam of the slipper sole, by inserting hook from outside through pre-punched hole, yo, pull loop through, yo, pull through both loops on hook, creating a sc on the edge of the slipper, PM. Continue to work sc in each hole around entire slipper sole. Do not join or turn.

Switch to hook appropriate for slipper size.

Rnd 1: Working in fl only, sc in first sc of set up row, PM. Sc in fl only in ea sc around. Do not join or turn.

Rnds 2 and 3: Sc in first sc, PM. Sc in ea sc around moving marker up from 2nd to 3rd round to indicate first st. Do not join or turn.

Rnd 4: Sl st through bl of marked sc in Rnd 3, and at the same time, sl st through corresponding bl of marked sc in Rnd 1. Cont to sl st Row 1 and Row 3 sts together around edge. This will cause crochet portion to fold in half, creating a rolled edge around slipper sole. Sl st to join. Fasten off, weave in ends. 

Slipper Top
With hook appropriate for slipper size and A, ch 14.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, skip 2 ch, sc in next chain. Rep from *. Draw up working loop to approx 2", drop from hook. Do not finish off. Do not turn.

Row 2: Join B to first sc of Row 1. Ch 3, 3 dc in same sc. Skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc. Skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 4 dc in last sc. Draw up working loop to approx 2", drop from hook. Taking care not to twist or tangle yarns, turn.

Row 3: Switch to working loop of Row 1 (A), tightening loop around hook. Ch 3, sl st to top of first dc, (ch 3, 3 dc) in same dc. Sc in next dc. *Skip next 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc, skip next 2 dc, sc in next dc. Rep from * across, ending with 3 dc in top of tch. Draw up loop, drop from hook, do not turn.

Row 4: Pick up working loop from Row 2 (B), tightening loop around hook. Ch 3, skip tch, sc in first dc. *Skip 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc. Rep from * across. Draw up loop, drop from hook. Taking care not to twist or tangle yarns, turn.

Row 5: Pick up working loop from Row 3 (A). Ch 1, sl st in first sc, (ch 3, 2 dc) in same sc as sl st. *Skip 2 dc, sc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc. Rep from * across, ending with 3 dc in last sc. Draw up loop, drop from hook, do not turn.

Row 6: Pick up working loop from Row 4 (B). Ch 3, sc in top of tch. *Skip 2 dc, 5 dc in next sc, skip 2 dc, sc in next dc. Rep from * across. Draw up loop, turn. 

Row 7: Repeat Row 5, beginning with working loop of Row 5.

Row 8: Repeat Row 6, beginning with working loop of Row 6.

Row 9: Repeat Row 5, beginning with working loop of Row 7.

Row 10: Repeat Row 6, beginning with working loopof Row 8.

Row 11: Repeat Row 5, beginning with working loop of Row 9.

Row 12: Repeat Row 6, beginning with working loop of Row 10. Finish off (B).

Row 13: Repeat Row 5, beginning with working loop of Row 11, turn.

Row 14: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.

Row 15 (RS): Ch 1, sl st in each sc across. Evenly slip stitch down side, around toe and up opposite side.

Fasten off, leaving tail of 3 feet for sewing. Weave in all other ends. 

Finishing
Center slipper top over toe of slipper sole with RS up. Secure pieces together using pins. Thread yarn needle with long tail, using mattress stitch, sew top to sole. Fasten off, weave in end. 

Care Instructions
Slipper sock soles are hand washable with mild detergent. Consider the yarn you used to make your slipper socks before washing. After washing and rinsing, gently squeeze out excess water. Stuff with clean paper or cloth to retain shape. Allow to air dry.
