Material List

  • Patons® Classic Wool (100g/3.5 oz) 1 ball each of:
    MC: 77251 Light Grey Marl
    A: 00202 Aran
    B: 00230 Bright Red
  • 3.75mm (U.S. 5) Double-Pointed Knitting Needles or size needed to obtain tension (set of 4)
  • Stuffing
  • Black Yarn for embroidery of nostrils and eyes (small amount)
 

Project Instructions

Step: 1

FINISHED SIZE
Approximately 15-inches (38cm) tall.


Step: 2

TENSION
22 sts and 28 rows = 4 ins [10cm] in stocking st.


Step: 3

Note
Stuff legs and body as you work.


Step: 4

Legs (make 2). **With pair of double-pointed needles and A, cast on 6 sts.


Step: 5

1st rnd: Inc 1 st in each st to end of row. Divide 12 sts onto 3 needles. Join in rnd. Place marker on first st.


Step: 6

2nd and alt rnds: Knit.


Step: 7

3rd rnd: *K1. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 18 sts.


Step: 8

5th rnd: *K2. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 24 sts. Knit 8 rnds even. Break A. With MC, knit in rnds for 5 ins [12.5cm].** Leave sts on a length of yarn.


Step: 9

Join Legs: Beg at marked st of one leg, with MC, K24 of 1st leg. K24 from 2nd leg. Join in rnd. 48 sts. Place marker on first st. Knit Body in rnds for 6 ins [15cm]. With A, knit 14 rnds.


Step: 10

Shape head
1st rnd: *K6. K2tog. Rep from * around. 42 sts.


Step: 11

2nd and alt rnds: Knit.


Step: 12

3rd rnd: *K5. K2tog. Rep from * around. 36 sts. Cont in same manner, dec 6 sts every follow alt rnd to 12 sts. Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten securely.


Step: 13

Arms (make 2), Tail (make 1): Work from ** to ** as given for Legs. Cast off.


Step: 14

Ears: (make 2). With pair of double-pointed needles and MC, cast on 8 sts.


Step: 15

1st row: (RS). Knit.


Step: 16

2nd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 14 sts. Knit 4 rows.


Step: 17

Next row: K1. ssk. Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.


Step: 18

Next row: Knit. Rep last 2 rows to 8 sts. Cast off.


Step: 19

Muzzle: With pair of double-pointed needles and B, cast on 8 sts.


Step: 20

1st row: K8, then with RS facing, turn work upside down. With 2nd needle, pick up and knit 8 sts along cast on edge. Divide sts as follows: 4 sts on 2nd and 3rd needles, 8 sts on first needle. Join in rnd. Place marker on first st.


Step: 21

1st rnd: 1st needle: K1. M1. Knit to last st. M1. K1.2nd needle: K1. M1. Knit to end of needle.3rd needle: Knit to last st. M1. K1.


Step: 22

2nd rnd: Knit. Rep last 2 rnds 3 times more. 32 sts. With A, rep last 2 rnds 3 times more. 44 sts. Cast off.


Step: 23

FINISHING
Stuff muzzle lightly and sew to front. Attach ears to either side of head. Stuff arms and attach to sides. Stuff tail and attach to back. With black yarn, embroider nostrils and eyes.
