Project Instructions

Step 1 Cut a piece of cardboard approximately 2"x4".

Step 2 Starting at 2" in from each side, cut eight slits about ¼" into the cardboard.

Step 3 Begin by wedging the end of the yarn into the first slit on the bottom of the cardboard. Leave about a 3" tail.

Step 4 Wrap the yarn lengthwise to the opposite slit on the top, and wedge it into the slit. Repeat until the cardboard has seven lengths of yarn stretched tight. This is called the warp.

Step 5 To begin weaving, tie the first color of yarn onto the first row of warp. Begin weaving by going over, under, over, under the warp. When you get to the end, weave back. Repeat until you want to change yarn colors.

Step 6 Tie the new yarn to the old yarn so that the knot is at the back of the weaving. Continue to weave, changing colors as desired.

Step 7 When you get to the bottom, tie the yarn to the last warp.

Step 8 To finish, snip the bottom of each warp row one at a time and tie in a knot. Repeat for all seven warp rows.
