Project Instructions
Step: 1
Prewash shirt to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener and do not dry shirt. Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth and lay damp shirt out flat on covered surface.
Step: 2
Place ping-pong balls underneath shirt in a row down the left side then across the bottom. Use the shirt to pull up each ball and wrap a rubber band tightly around the fabric to hold the ball in place. When finished, spread out shirt as flat as possible.
Step: 3
Wearing rubber gloves, add water to dye bottle to line indicated on bottle. Replace cap tightly and shake until dye is dissolved.
Step: 4
Squeeze the dye onto shirt, avoiding the rubber band area and the fabric over balls.
Step: 5
Dip the tip of a cotton swab into any of the excess dye on the plastic tablecloth and then touch the top center of the ball to make a dot. Repeat process to create a circle of dots around the dot on the top of each ball. Refer to photo.
Step: 6
Cover shirt with plastic and let sit 4 to 6 hours. Carefully snip the rubber bands with scissors to remove. Wash separately in a large load of water with a small amount of laundry soap. Dry in dryer.
