- Knitting Needles size 9 [5.5mm]

- Crochet Hook (for fringe)
- Yarn Needle
16 sts = 4-inches (10cm); 22 rows = 4-inches (10cm) in St st. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.
Measures without fringe 54½-inches x 7½-inches (138 x 19 cm).
Cable Slip 3 sts to cable needle and hold to front, K3, K3 from cable needle.
K = knit
mm = millimeters
P = purl
St st = Stockinette stitch (Knit on right side rows; Purl on wrong side rows.)

Keep careful count of your rows and the cable pattern will be easier to follow.
Cast on 34 sts. K 8 rows.
Begin Cable Pattern
Row 1(Wrong Side): K8, P6, K6, P6, K8.
Row 2 (Right Side): K4, P4, cable over next 6 sts, P6, cable over next 6 sts, P4, K4.
Row 3: Repeat Row 1.
Row 4: K4, P4, K6, P6, K6, P4, K4.
Rows 5-6: Repeat Rows 3-4.
Repeat Rows 1-6 until scarf measures 53-inches from beginning. K 8 rows. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.
Seven fringe knots are evenly spaced along each end of scarf as follows. Cut a piece of cardboard the length desired for fringe plus ½-inch trimming allowance. Wind yarn loosely around cardboard 56 times. Cut yarn across one edge. For each fringe, use four lengths of yarn folded in half. Hold scarf with right side facing you. Use crochet hook to draw folded end through scarf from right to wrong side; pull fringe ends through folded section and draw knot up neatly. Trim ends evenly.
