- German Style Round Wire, 20ga – Silver Plated
- Ring Stick
- Wire Cutters
- Chain Nose Pliers
Step 1 Cut 20ga wire to 11".
Step 2 Use ring stick for proper size.
Step 3 Wrap wire around ring stick one full revolution. Make sure to have equal amounts of wire on each side.
Step 4 Bend one wire 180 degrees so that the end of the wire is now going in the opposite direction.
Step 5 Bend the other wire from Step 4 so it is also now going in the opposite direction. Make sure the two ends of the wire are over-lapping as shown.
Step 6 Using the chain nose pliers, squeeze the bends of the wire together (completely together if desired).
Step 7 Repeat Step 6 so that both wires are equally bent.
Step 8 Carefully tuck the loose ends of the wire back around the ring mandrel.
Step 9 Twist the two wires close to the surface of the ring mandrel so that the wires are tight.
Step 10 Continue to twist the two wires forming a nice round swirl pattern (this swirl will hold the ring together). Make sure not to swirl so much that you don’t have at least 1" of wire left on each piece of loose wire.
Step 11 Cut the end of one side of the wire to 1", depending on how large the center swirl is, you may not need to cut much off the end.
Step 12 Cut the other end of the wire to 1".
Step 13 Grasp the end of one of the wires with the chain nose pliers.
Step 14 Twist the end of the wire with the chain nose pliers to start a single wire swirl.
Step 15 Using the side of the chain nose pliers, grasp the wire and twist so that the swirl is formed.
Step 16 Release the wire and re-grasp the swirl and continue to form.
Step 17 Continue to twist the wire until the swirl nests just under one side of the center swirl.
Step 18 Repeat Steps 15-17 on the opposite wire.
