Project Instructions

Step: 1

Use the glue gun to glue the two 10-inch discs on top of each other and the two 16-inch discs on top of each other. This will create one 10-inch x 2-inch disc (for table base) and one 16-inch x 2-inch disc (for the tabletop).

Step: 2

Cut the 8-inch ball in half: Find the center of the ball, wrap a large rubber band around the center, hold the ball firmly with one hand and cut alongside the rubber band to cut ball in half. Be sure to get a straight cut or the table will not stand straight. To ensure that the balls are cut flat, lay the cut edge of both halves on your work surface, being sure they lay flat on the table. If they wobble, use a scrap piece of foam to sand smooth until they lay flat and secure on the table.

Step: 3

Cut a small flat spot on the top, rounded side of the 8-inch half balls, being sure the top flat spot is parallel to the table. Cut a small flat spot on exact opposite sides of the 6-inch ball, being sure the flat spots are parallel to each other.

Step: 4

Assembling the table: When gluing the parts together, glue around the outside edges of each piece, leaving a 2-inch bare space in the center of each piece (Note: the dowel will be inserted down through the pieces and if there is a layer of glue, it’s difficult to get the dowel through). Lay the 10-inch disc down first, glue an 8-inch half ball centered on top of the disc. Glue a flat side of the 6-inch ball centered to the top flat spot on the 8-inch half ball. Glue the flat spot from the other 8-inch half ball to the top of the 6-inch ball. Glue the 16-inch disc centered on top of the 8-inch half ball.

Step: 5

Sharpen the end of the dowel with a Stanley knife. Insert the end of the dowel into the bottom center of the table. Keeping the dowel running straight, use the hammer to slowly push the dowel through the parts of the table until the dowel is flush with the bottom of the table.

Step: 6

Paint the table and let dry.

Step: 7

Cut about a 22-inch circle from the fabric and glue decorative trim around the edge for the tablecloth.

Step: 8

Optional: To help protect the bottom disc from getting dented from little feet, glue on quilt batting and fabric.

Step: 9

Cube Chairs
Glue quilt batting to completely cover the tops and sides of both cubes, leaving the bottoms bare.

Step: 10

Cut out 11-inch x 11-inch squares of fabric or felt. Glue the squares, right sides together, to create two cube slipcovers, let dry. Place slipcovers on cubes.

Step: 11

Make flower shaped pillows by cutting four flower shapes from fabric, large enough to cover the top of each cube. Lay two fabric flowers on your work surface, right side down, and cut two slightly smaller flowers from the batting to fit inside the pillow. Lay the other two fabric flowers on top, right side up, and glue the edges of the fabric flowers together. Glue decorative trim to cover the glued seam. Stitch two buttons to each pillow on the front and back.
