Wax serrated knife with candle stub or paraffin. Use compass or circle template to draw a 3-inch circle in center of foam disc. Carefully cut out circle, keeping edges intact. Smooth all cut edges with fingertips.
Follow manufacturer's directions to mix spackling in disposable container until smooth and spreadable. Use putty knife to spread even coat of spackling over cube, disc and circle. Work on one side at a time. Let dry and sand smooth. Repeat.
Paint foam cube and dowel rod with brown. Paint disc and circle with silver. Let dry completely.
Refer to photo to assemble sculpture. Insert toothpick or wood pick between the circle and disc, then glue together. Insert dowel into foam cube and glue in place. Glue top of dowel into bottom of disc. Let dry.
Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer’s instructions for all products used.
These sleek, contemporary lines add sophistication to your décor. The model uses brown and silver paints, but you can easily change this to match any decor. Or, try a foam-safe, faux stone spray paint for a sculpture that looks like it’s carved from stone.
