Project Instructions

Step: 1

Pre-wash black shirt and dry without fabric softener. Cover work surface with plastic tablecloth.

Step: 2

Insert Tulip® Fashion Form™ or a piece of cardboard covered with foil in between layers of shirt.

Step: 3

Enlarge skull and crossbones, and skull and flames pattern if desired then print out. Use felt pen to trace each onto contact paper and use craft knife to cut out, leaving outside edges intact to create stencil.

Step: 4

Referring to photo for placement, peel backing from stencils and place next to neckline of shirt. Run a finger along edges of stencil to protect from paint seepage. Pour a puddle of Glacier White Soft Fabric Paint™ onto foil, then dab flat end of makeup sponge into paint and pounce onto shirt within stencils. Let dry, then add one or two additional coats for desired coverage.

Step: 5

For coloring in flames, pour puddles of Sunburst Yellow, Fiesta Orange and Berry Red onto foil. First dab Glacier White onto very tips of flames, followed by Sunburst Yellow onto majority of flame. Dab Fiesta Orange over most of Sunburst Yellow, then use corner of makeup sponge to dab Berry Red in areas closest to skull. Remove stencil and let dry.

Step: 6

Continue placing stencils around neckline on front and back of tee and painting until desired number of skull and crossbones, and skull and flames have been created. Let dry.

Step: 7

Use a pencil to lightly sketch in facial details on each skull, referring to pattern as a guide. Trace over skull outlines and facial details with Black Slick 3D Fashion Paint™. Fill in eyes, nose and mouth area on sides of teeth. Let dry.

Step: 8

When paint is dry, use small paintbrush to apply Tulip® Fashion Glitter Bond™ to flames, working with one flame at a time. Immediately sprinkle with Orange Jewel Fashion Glitter™. When dry, shake off excess onto scratch paper and pour back into container for reuse. Repeat for all flames.

Step: 9

Use a chalk pencil to draw out swirls randomly stemming out from skulls. Refer to photo. Trace over (or freehand draw without using chalk) swirl lines with True Red Slick. Immediately sprinkle Apple Red Fashion Glitter™ over paint and let dry. When dry, shake off excess onto scratch paper and return to container for reuse.

Step: 10

Use a flat paintbrush to brush a line of Glitter Bond™ between skulls to connect, working in small sections at a time. Immediately sprinkle Apple Red glitter onto adhesive. Let dry, then shake off excess.

Step: 11

Cut desired lengths of red velvet ribbon and tie into bows. Use Fabric Fusion™ to glue red and black silk roses and bows between skull designs on front and back of shirt. Let dry.

Step: 12

Glue red jewels onto the eye sockets of each skull.

Step: 13

Use safety pins to secure the feet of feathered raven to shoulder and layer over a red tee to complete the look.

If your dimensional paint line gets a bubble, pop it with a straight pin. If it comes out too thick in one spot after applying, run a straight pin through the middle of it to break up the paint. Do this immediately, before the paint begins to dry.
