Project Instructions

Cut a 100" and a 30" length of hemp.

Fold the pieces in half and line up the center folds together.

Tie an overhand knot, creating a loop at the center fold. Be sure to make the loop just large enough to slide the tail end of the bracelet and bead through.

Clamp the knot down onto a thin board/work surface. Tape the two middle strands (the shorter strands) down.

Begin the square knot stitch. Bring the left strand over the center strands and under the right strand. Bring the right strand under the center strands and up through the loop of the left cord. Now bring the right strand over the center strands and under the left strand. Bring the left strand under the center strands and up through the loop of the right cord.

Tighten the square knot by pulling on the knotting cords. Repeat the square knot to complete the bracelet.

Thread beads onto the center cords and tie the knotting cords around the beads. For a consistent pattern, tie the same quantity of knots between the beads. If the knots seem loose, push them back along the center cords towards the starting point of the bracelet.

Finish the bracelet by stringing all four cords through the large hole bead and tying an overhand knot. Pull the knot tight. Pliers may help pull the knot tightly. Trim the excess cords.
