Project Instructions

Step: 1

Knot Terminology
Over Hand Knot: An overhand knot is tied in a single strand, or in a group of stands held together. It is used to begin or end a project.

Step: 2

Half Knot: A half knot joins two strands. Wrap the right strand first over, then behind then over the left stand. When repeated, this knot creates a spiral effect called a half knot sinnet.

Step: 3

Square Knot: A square knot consists of two half knots tied in opposite directions. Wrap the right strand over, behind, and over the left strand. Bring the same strand (on left now) behind, over and behind the right strand. Pull the ends in opposite directions to tighten them. When repeated, this knot creates a flat ribbon, or a square knot sinnet.

Step: 4

Bracelet Instructions
Fold the natural hemp over so one end extends 12-inches and the other 36-inches. Tie the colored strand around the natural strand in a half knot, about ½-inch below the fold, making a half knot with one 12-inch and one 36-inch tail. Arrange the strands so the short strands are in the center with the colored strand on the right.

Step: 5

Tie an 8-inch long square knot sinnet. Make a half knot, with the left strand passing in front of the center strands and the right passing behind, so that the center strands are enclosed in a loop. Make another half knot with the right strand passing in front. This makes a square knot.

Step: 6

Tie an overhand knot to complete
