  • Lily® Sugar ‘n Cream® (Solids: 70.9 ga./2.5 oz., 109m/120 yds., Twists: 56.7 ga./2 oz., 86m/95 yds.) Sage Green (Contrast A; 4 Balls), Green Twist Contrast B; 4 Balls), Warm Brown (Contrast C; 6 Balls), Soft Ecru (Contrast D; 6 Balls) and Robin’s Egg (Contrast E; 8 Balls)
  • Note: 1 ball of each color will make 4 dishcloths.
  • Knitting Needles, Size 4.5mm (U.S. 7) or Size Needed to Obtain Gauge

MEASUREMENTS

Dishcloth: Approx 8¼" x 8¼" x [21 x 21cm]

Throw: Approx 41¼" x 49½" [125.5 x 167.5cm].
GAUGE

19 sts and 32 rows = 4" [10cm] in garter st.

 

ABBREVIATIONS

Approx = Approximately.

Rem = Remaining.

K = Knit.

St(s) = Stitch(es).

Tog = Together.

WS = Wrong side.
INSTRUCTIONS

 

DISHCLOTH

 

Notes:

- Dishcloth is worked in one piece. Each color block is picked up and knit from the previous block(s) as shown in diagram.

- To join new color, pull up a loop of new color through last st of cast off row. Counts as first st of next Block.

 

1st Block (See Diagram)

With A, cast on 13 sts.

Knit 23 rows (garter st), noting first row is WS.

Cast off, joining B to last st.

 

2nd Block

Turn work 90 degrees clockwise. With B, pick up and knit 13 sts across side edge of 1st Block.

Knit 23 rows.

Cast off, joining C to last st.

 

3rd Block

Turn work 90 degrees clockwise. With C, pick up and knit 13 across side edge of 2nd Block and 13 sts across bottom edge of 1st Block. 26 sts.

Knit 23 rows.

Cast off, joining D to last st.

 

4th Block

Turn work 90 degrees clockwise. With D, pick up and knit 13 sts across side edge of 3rd Block and 13 sts across side edge of 1st Block. 26 sts.

Knit 23 rows.

Cast off, joining E to last st.

 

5th Block

Turn work 90° clockwise. With E, pick up and knit 13 across side edge of 4th Block, 13 sts across top edge of 1st Block and 13 sts across side edge of 2nd Block. 39 sts.

Knit 23 rows.

Cast off.

 

THROW

Make 30 Dishcloths. Sew tog as shown in assembly diagram.
