Project Instructions

  1. Glue three large craft sticks together to make a star.
  2. Cut a large water drop from the blue foam sheet. Write "We Use Water" on the water drop with marker. Glue water drop in the center of the star.
  3. Using a pencil, trace six small circles on white construction paper. Draw pictures of ways we use water in each circle. Cut out circles and glue to the ends of each craft stick with craft glue.

Tips

Craft Notes

Punch a hole at the top of the water drop to hang the star, or draw pictures of ways to save water.

Adult supervision is required at all times.

Background

Why are rivers and lakes important? Have students name all the ways they use water every day (washing dishes, brushing their teeth, taking a bath, watering plants). Where does that water come from? Have they ever gone fishing? Have they ever gone water skiing or sailing? What ways do we use water for fun? On a large chart, write down the students' ideas and suggestions. Discuss the importance of clean water and keeping our rivers and lakes clean.
