Cut 2½" off top and bottom of cone. Shape the center section into an oval. Shape styrofoam by using another piece to rub against it, like sand paper.
Use the hot knife to shape if needed.
Using the bottom section you have left, cut four rectangles and create two arms and two legs. Shape they so they are rounded.
Using tooth picks or small dowels attach the arms and legs to the body. Put a little glue on the tooth pick and insert into hole.
Attach the 2" styrofoam ball to top of body for head.
Following directions on the package, cover entire body with a thin layer of paper clay. Use small amount of water and your finger tips to smooth. Let dry completely.
Paint entire snowman white, let dry.
Follow directions and apply one step crackle to snowman. Let dry.
Make a wash of burnt umber and water, brush on and wipe off to create an antique look.
Brush on coat of Mod Podge®, sprinkle with diamond dust and shake off excess.
Cut a piece of dowel to desired size for broom, paint brown.
Wrap jute around four fingers to create bottom of broom, tie off and secure to dowel for broom.
Hot glue broom to snowman.
Cut strip of red felt for scarf and wrap around neck of snowman, securing with glue.
Cut a Styrofoam disk to fit in base of jar, hot glue snowman to disk, cover with fake snow.
Make a small hat using black felt and secure with glue. Glue ribbon around hat.
Place items in jar and pour snow in around them.
Tie ribbon around lid.
