I love designing all different types of sparkling jewelry!
What would you consider to be your signature technique or tip?
Always learn the basics and the rest will fall into place easily!
When did you first realize you were creative?
When I was a little girl thanks to my parents who always encouraged my sisters and myself to play with paints, needle & thread, colors, wire, calligraphy, jewelry, crochet and so much more to find our creative groove.
What's the coolest thing you've ever created?
I painted a little girls room in Michigan. It was a beautiful floral garden full of hollyhocks, pansies & daisies as well as real birdhouses on the painted picket fences, clouds on the ceiling, birds flying. It was a big project but l loved how it looked when I was finished, sweet, inspiring, calming and colorful!
What inspires you to create?
Everything!!! I love to travel and am always inspired by the places that I visit, the people that I meet and the colors of the scenery around me when I am travelling. All of that turns up in the designs that I create.
What was your biggest creative goof? How did you fix it?
I was working on some cool t-shirts with fabric paints, glitter, crystals and more….totally smeared the paint by accident, you could not recognize the original painting, etc……very bad needless to say and to top it off I did it in front of a classroom of students that I was teaching garment decorating!!! UGH! How did you fix it? I showed them how to improvise with the paints and just because you have one plan doesn’t mean that you can’t come up with an even better one with imagination!
When and where do you feel the most creative?
When I am near the beach with my family, the water is very relaxing or when I am brainstorming with my fellow Swarovski Elements Crystals Create Your Style Ambassadors.
How do you find the time to let your creativity loose?
I am very busy with my family and try to find time early in the morning as well as in the evening to let loose any find my personal creative time.
What would be in your dream craft room/work space?
I would love a big open space that has a lampwork station, bench area, a large jewelry table, file drawers for all of my gemstones, Swarovski crystals and lampwork beads, a heat machine area for imprinted sportswear, a sewing area and a general craft area for all of my other crafty projects.
What tools and supplies do you always have on hand?
My jewelry tools of course! I travel just about everywhere with them. I also keep my favorite wire, crimps, Swarovski crystals and gemstones nearby……you never know when you might need a new necklace!!
What's your favorite color?
Pink, pink, pink and oh…did I say pink???
What projects are you working on now?
Too many to name but needless too say I am working on a ton of jewelry projects with lots of sparkles!!
If you had a $100 Michaels gift card, what would you buy?
I would buy some cool Bead Landing pendants, chain & connectors as well as resin, leather, Swarovski Elements Crystals and some fabulous pearls!
