To me, creativity is a blessing, a gift from God that we all possess. We all use the creative process every day. Creativity communicates ideas. It expresses thoughts and feelings. Creativity combined with imagination is the fuel that moves our artistic expression. In my artistic work I use creative problem solving to make choices about line, color, texture and composition.
What type of projects do you do best?
I enjoy both fine art and crafting projects. Pastels are my favorite fine art medium, I also enjoy altered art and paper crafting projects "off the page"!
What would you consider to be your signature technique or tip?
Even if you think you've made a mistake, don't stop and throw it away. All problems can be solved and reworked. Often what seems like a mistake leads to great art.
When did you first realize you were creative?
As I remember the story, when I was in the 6th grade, I wrote a report on Ice Skating and drew my own illustrations. The teacher recognized that I had a gift for drawing.
What inspires you to create?
Creating is very relaxing to me. It's great therapy. I'm also inspired by other people's creativity. When I get the fever to be creative it's all I can think about.
When and where do you feel the most creative?
I feel the most creative in a quiet space all by myself. It can be in my studio or outside in nature. It also involves the right music playing in the background.
How do you find the time to let your creativity loose?
There are so many demands on our time. I think we all have to carve out time to be creative.
What would be in your dream craft room/work space?
We have a dream work space in the studio at Michaels! The right tools, a quiet atmosphere, friendly team mates and a place to make a mess!
What tools and supplies do you always have on hand?
Glue, glitter, stamping ink, paint and papers.
What's your favorite color?
My favorite color changes daily! Today my favorite color is a beautiful shade of purple....some might call it, eggplant. It is found in the palette from a pad of papers that I just bought last weekend at Michaels.
What projects are you working on now?
I am working on a paper birthday banner and an altered art piece.
