Project Instructions

Happy Holly Gingerbread House

Assemble cottage according to included instructions.

Outline front door and fill in with zigzags (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch). Flatten purple sugared gumdrop on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar and attach circle for window on door with dot of icing. Attach blue flavored candy for doorknob with dots of icing. Cut green leaves in small pieces to resemble holly and attach around doorway with icing.

For windows, roll out miniature sugared gumdrops and cut into squares. Attach to the front, sides and back of cottage with dots of icing. Outline front windows and panes and add icicles on windowsills. Roll out red sugared gumdrops on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar and cut strips to resemble candy cane stripes; attach to sides of windows. Attach sugared gumdrop on top of each window. Repeat process for windows on sides of house, omitting sugared gumdrops on top.

Over front door, outline icing candy canes. Roll out red gumdrops on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar and cut strips, attaching them to candy cane for stripes.

Ice roof of cottage smooth. Pipe five horizontal lines of icing on each side of roof, 1" apart, and attach flavored candies in a horizontal row on each side. Decorate icing swirls between rows of candies.

Decorate a line of icing on peak of house. Attach sugared gumdrops and sugared gumdrop halves in alternating fashion.

Decorate icicles on peaks and eaves. Attach sugared gumdrops, cut in half horizontally, on front and back eaves.

Ice base fluffy, leaving space for walkway.

To make evergreen trees, cut green leaves into small pieces and coat with granulated sugar. Attach pieces with icing, beginning at the bottom and building up. Let set. Attach tree to side of house.

Lavished in Lattice Gingerbread House

Assemble cottage according to included instructions.

Outline front door and fill in with zigzags (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch). Roll out purple miniature sugared gumdrop on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar and cut into 1" square window with scissors; attach to window with dots of icing. Attach candies around door frame and one for doorknob with dots of icing.

Roll out miniature sugared gumdrops on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar for windows. Cut in 2" squares. Attach to cottage with dots of icing. Outline windows and decorate with lattice. Add icicles on windowsills. Attach miniature sugared gumdrops cut in half, vertically, on window sides and just on tops of front and back windows.

To make wreath, cut green leaves into small pieces and coat with granulated sugar. Pipe circle of icing above the door and position green leaves pieces to form wreath. Roll out red sugared gumdrop on surface covered with granulated sugar and cut to bow shape. Attach to wreath with dots of icing.

Decorate lines on house corners and under eaves.

Ice roof smooth. Decorate with lines of lattice. Cut green leaves to resemble evergreen branches and attach to top peak of house with icing to resemble holly. Add icicles to peaks and eaves of house. Attach gumdrops, cut in half horizontally, to front and back peaks.

Garland Greetings Gingerbread House

Assemble cottage according to included instructions.

Outline front door and fill in with zigzags (smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch). Cut miniature sugared gumdrops in half, vertically. Attach around door frame with dots of icing. Roll out yellow sugared gumdrop flat on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar. Cut into circle shape with scissors and attach for window on door with dots of icing. Attach red candy with a dot of icing for doorknob.

Roll out miniature sugared gumdrops flat on surface sprinkled with granulated sugar for windows. Attach to front, back and sides of house with icing. For larger window on front of house, outline and decorate curtains. Add candy on window sides with dots of icing. Decorate swirls on top of window and add candy between swirls. Add icicles on windowsills. Repeat instructions for small window above door, omitting candies on sides of windows. For windows on sides of house, decorate the same as big window on front of house, omitting swirls and candies on top.

Decorate a line of icing under the eaves. Decorate zigzags on each corner.

Ice roof smooth. Decorate four zigzag garlands, ¾" apart on each roof side. Cut a miniature sugared gumdrop in half horizontally. Attach at the beginning point of each garland with dots of icing. Decorate line of icing on roof peak. Attach alternating flavored candies and sugared gumdrops on top.

Decorate icicles on peak and eaves. Attach miniature flavored candies to front and back eaves with icing.

Tips

You can make your own variations by using additional store-bought candy or making signs from construction paper and writing your family name on them.
