Wilton® Icing Bead Technique
- Buttercream Icing of Medium Consistency

Step 1 Decorate with round tip 5 and medium consistency icing. Hold bag at 45° or 3:00 (9:00 for lefties), with tip slightly above surface.
Step 2 Squeeze as you lift tip slightly so that icing fans out.
Step 3 Relax pressure as you draw the tip down and bring the bead to a point, stop squeezing and pull away.
Step 4 To make a bead border, start the next bead a little behind the previous one so that the fanned out end covers the tail of the preceding bead to form an even chain.
