Roll out cookie dough and cut star, candy cane and Christmas Tree cookies.

If using as ornaments, use plastic drinking straw to punch hole in top of cookies, and remove dough circle.

Bake and cool.

For yellow star cookie with icing, ice smooth with yellow royal icing; let set. Use tip 3 to outline star and pipe star design in center of cookie; let set. Add ribbon, if desired.

For yellow star cookie with yellow sugars, ice smooth with yellow royal icing; let set. Use tip 3 to outline star and pipe smaller star in center. Immediately sprinkle with yellow sugars; shake off excess sugar and let set. Add ribbon, if desired.

For plain cookie tree with green sugar zigzag, use tip 3 and green royal icing to pipe zigzag on cookie and immediately cover with green sugars; shake off excess sugar and let set. Add ribbon, if desired.

For iced green tree cookie with sugar pearls, ice with green royal icing, making branch impressions with spatula as you go. Add Sugar Pearls for garland on tree; let set. Add ribbon, if desired.

For striped candy cane cookie with red sugar, ice smooth with white royal icing, let dry completely. Use tip 2 and red royal icing to pipe candy cane stripes. Smooth with finger dipped in cornstarch and cover immediately with red sugars; shake off excess sugar and let set. Add ribbon, if desired.

For striped candy cane cookie with red icing strips, ice smooth with white royal icing. Use tip 2 and red royal icing to pipe candy cane strips; let set. Add ribbon, if desired.

Tips

As an option, you can turn these cookies into ornaments. Use a straw to punch a small hole in the cookies prior to baking. Add a color matching satin ribbon to finish.
