Project Instructions
Gingerbread Boy with Red Overalls and Green Stocking Cap
For hat, roll a ½" ball of green fondant into a cone shape. Base of hat will be 1¼"x1½". Pipe icing ball on tip. Attach hat to head with icing. Pipe icing zigzags for band of hat.
Pipe dots of icing for eyes and line for mouth.
Roll out red and green fondant 1/16" thick. Cut 1¾"x1" high pants, ¼"x1" high suspenders, 1/8"x1" long striped trims. Attach fondant pieces to cookie with dots of icing.
Add green miniature colored candies for buttons with dots of icing. To make bow tie, roll two ¼"x¼" balls of green fondant into teardrop shapes. Have points meet and attach to neck with icing.
Roll 1/8" ball of fondant for knot; attach with piping gel.
Gingerbread Girl Cookies with Striped Dress
Repeat same process as boy for hat and face. Pipe lines for hair.
For bow on hat, roll out red fondant log 1/16"x2" long. Fold in half, meeting in center, roll tiny ball for knot; attach with icing. Ice dress smooth with white icing. Cut red fondant into 1/8"x1¾" long strips (make six) and attach to dress with piping gel.
For band on neckline, cut 1/8"x1¾" red fondant strip; for sleeve bands cut two 1/8"x1¾" long red fondant strips.
For ruffles cut a 3½"x½" red fondant strip and gather at skirt hem.
Attach all pieces to dress with piping gel.
For easels for both cookies
Use cardboard base in box to cut into 1¾"x1" triangular pieces.
Attach to backs of cookies with icing.
