Project Instructions

Step: 1

If using 12-inch x 36-inch x 1-inch sheet proceed as follows: Using ruler and pencil, score foam sheet to create three, 12-inch x 12-inch squares. Wax serrated knife with an old candle. Holding foam sheet firmly on a flat surface, extend one end and cut across the score line, using knife like a saw. Or, use dental floss as follows: Stand the sheet on its edge and hold a 20-inch length of dental floss along the scored line, positioning one hand at the bottom of the board and the other at the top; draw the dental floss down through the foam sheet along the scored line.

Step: 2

Paint edges of foam sheets with black, and paint ¼-inch on top edge of foam sheets, too.

Step: 3

Using knippers or heavy-duty scissors, cut pieces of birch bark to measure 12-inches x 12-inches.

Step: 4

Attach birch bark to the fronts of two squares of STYROFOAM brand foam using a generous amount of glue. Use weights (such as a heavy book) to hold bark tight to the surface while glue hardens.

Step: 5

Paint front of remaining foam square with brown; let dry.

Step: 6

Use pruning clippers to cut twigs to 12-inches long. Glue twigs to foam square until the entire surface is covered. Let dry. Carefully trim uneven edges.

Step: 7

Use Velcro hangers to hang art on the wall or glue sawtooth picture hangers to backs. For additional hold, insert and glue two straight pins through holes in each sawtooth picture hanger.

Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer’s instructions for all products used.
