Zenspirations Patterned Monograms
You don't have to be a calligrapher or a designer to learn how to draw easy and beautiful patterned monograms. Use Sakura Pigma Micron® pens to create shapes and detailed lines. Sakura Gelly Roll Metallic® and Stardust® pens will add color and shine to these special letters.

Step 1 Using a black Pigma Micron® 01 pen, draw a 5” outline of the letter "R" on a sheet of Strathmore® 400 series drawing paper.
Step 2 Double stroke the lines to add spaces around the perimeter, and then close any open edges.
Step 3 Add weight to the strokes to help ‘ground’ the letter.
Step 4 Fill some of the spaces around the perimeter with simple patterns. (See pages 8-10 of Zenspirations™ Letters & Patterning for pattern examples; and pages 42-48 for examples of Zenspirations Patterned Monograms.)
Step 5 Add circles, loops and triangles to make the patterns more detailed. Step 6 Using Gelly Roll Metallic® and Gelly Roll Stardust® pens, add touches of color to the remaining spaces around the perimeter of the letter.
