When I was a girl my mother was on a mission to teach me all the needle arts she learned as a girl; she hit me with sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, knitting and thread crochet.  None of the above “took”.  Many years later when it occurred to me that you could swap out thicker yarn and big hooks for my mom’s crochet thread and steel hooks I revisited crochet.  So I can’t say that crochet has been a life-long obsession.  But I’m making up for it now.

In the course of my crochet odyssey I have designed many garments and accessories for yarn companies, magazines and books.  My own titles, Amazing Crochet Lace and Everyday Crochet, were a wonderful opportunity for me to tell-all about my crochet ideas, my occasional angst and my modus operandi.

As you can tell from the crochet designs linked here, I have a long and loving relationship with Caron Simply Soft yarns.  There is so much to appreciate; Simply Soft is wonderfully soft, season-spanning, easy care and economical.  I love the drape it lends to garments and afghans, the terrific color range, slight sheen and great stitch definition.  For me and my dog (who are both sensitive to wool) it is our non-allergenic worsted weight of choice.
