  • Lily Sugar'n Cream 4-Ply Worsted Weight 100% Cotton, Ombre (2.5 oz/56.7g) or Solid (2.5 oz/70.9g) Color of Choice
  • Crochet hook, size 4.5 mm, U.S. 7, or size needed to obtain gauge

  • Items shown are in solid color Lily Sugar'n Cream 4-ply Worsted Weight (2.5 oz/70.9 g), Main Color (MC) (White) 2 balls; Contrast A (Yellow), 1 ball; Contrast B (Mint), 1 ball.

 
  • GAUGE: 13 sc and 15 rows = 4 ins. Use size crochet hook necessary to obtain gauge.

 
  • INSTRUCTIONS:
    Utensil Holder: Note: To change color, work to last 2 loops on hook. Draw loop in next color through 2 loops on hook to complete st and proceed in next color.

 
  • With MC, ch 3. Join with ss to form a ring.

 
  • 1st rnd: Ch 1. 8 sc in ring. Join with ss to first sc.
    2nd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last ss. 2 sc in each sc around. Join with ss to first sc. 16 sc.

 
  • 3rd rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last ss. *1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last sc. 1 sc in last sc. Join with ss to first sc. 24 sc.

 
  • 4th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last ss. *1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 2 sc. 1 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join with ss to first sc. 32 sc.

 
  • 5th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last ss. *1 sc in each of next 3 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 3 sc. 1 sc in each of last 3 sc. Join with ss to first sc. 40 sc.

 
  • 6th rnd: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sp as last ss. *1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * to last 4 sc. 1 sc in each of last 4 sc. Join with ss to first sc. 48 sc.

 
  • 7th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last ss. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with ss to back loop of first sc.
    8th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last ss. 1 sc in back loop of each sc around. Join with ss to first sc.

 
  • 9th rnd: Ch 1. Working through both loops, 1 sc in same sp as last ss. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with ss to first sc. Rep last rnd 6 times more.

 
  • **Next rnd: With B, as 9th rnd.
    Next 3 rnds: With A, as 9th rnd.
    Next rnd: With B, as 9th rnd.
    Next 6 rnds: With MC, as 9th rnd.**
    Rep from ** to ** once.

 
  • Next rnd: With MC, working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each sc around. Join with ss to first sc. Fasten off.

 
  • Join MC, with ss to any front loop of 8th rnd.
    Next rnd: Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each front loop around. Join with ss to first sc. Fasten off.

 
  • Sew Daffodil to Utensil Holder as illustrated in photograph above.

 
  • Square Pot Holder: With MC, ch 24.

 
  • 1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. 23 sc. Turn.
    2nd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in 1st sc. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
    Rep last row twice more ending last row with join B by drawing through last 2 loops of sc.

 
  • Next row: With B, as 2nd row.
    Next row: With MC, as 2nd row.
    Next row: With B, as 2nd row.
    Next 17 rows: With MC, as 2nd row. Fasten off.

 
  • With RS of work facing, join A with ss to any corner.
    1st rnd: With A, ch 1. 3 sc in same st as last ss. 1 sc in each st around working 3 sc in corner sts.

 
  • 2nd rnd: Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 sc in each sc around. Join with ss to first sc. Ch 10 (hanging loop). Join in round with ss to first ch. Fasten off.

 
  • Beg with 6th st from left edge, with B embroider 2 rows of chain st, 1 st apart as illustrated.
    Sew on Daffodil at top corner under hanging loop as illustrated.

 
  • Daffodil:
    With A, ch 2.
    1st rnd: (RS). 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with ss in first sc.

 
  • First Petal:
    1st row: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sc as last ss. Ch 1. Turn.
    2nd row: 2 sc in each sc. 4 sc. Ch 1. Turn.
    3rd row: 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in last sc. 6 sc. Ch 1. Turn.

 
  • 4th row: 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Ch 1. Turn.
    5th row: Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through 3 loops on hook - sc dec made. 1 sc in each of next 2 sc.
    Sc dec over next 2 sts. Ch 1. Turn.

 
  • 6th row: (Sc dec over next 2 sts) twice. 2 sts. Ch 3. Turn.
    7th row: Miss first sc. Ss in next sc. Ss in side of each of next 6 rows of petal. Ss in last sc worked on 1st row and in next sc. Do not turn.

 
  • Second Petal:
    1st row: Ch 1. 2 sc in same sc as last ss. Ch 1. Turn.
    2nd to 7th rows: Work as given for 2nd to 7th rows of First Petal.

 
  • Third to Sixth Petals: Work as given for Second Petal. At end of Sixth Petal, fasten off.

 
  • Trumpet
    With A, ch 2.
    1st rnd: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with ss in first sc.
    2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc. 10 sc.

 
  • 3rd and 4th rnds: 1 sc in each sc.
    5th rnd: Ch 3. Ss in 3rd ch from hook. (1 sc in next sc. Ch 3. Ss in 3rd ch from hook) 9 times. Join with ss in next sc. Fasten off.
